     SPECIAL EDUCATION/TEST COORDINATOR

 

DESCRIPTION: The Special Education/Testing Coordinator position is a twelve month administrative-level position within the Perry County School System. The Special Education/Testing Coordinator works under the direction of the Superintendent and with the Principals, Special Education Teachers, General Education Teachers, Administrators and support staff. They plan and implement a program to effectively implement the administrative and legal work of the Special Education Program in accordance with established laws and procedures. They plan and organize the system’s testing program to comply with local, state and federal laws and policies.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·        Serves as a leader for program quality and actively works with staff to improve level of performance

·        Complies with federal and state laws and local Board policies

·        Promotes a climate of high expectations for program staff

·        Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication

·        Assumes responsibility for personal professional growth

·        Demonstrates professional ethics

·        Coordinates the delivery of special education services by assigning student caseloads, creating service delivery schedules and monitoring IEP implementation in accordance with the directives of IDEA 2002 and its 2007 additions

·        Facilitates and attends meeting related to student performance, evaluation, and programs

·        Coordinate the delivery and planning of the system’s testing program.

·        Monitors the completion of student assessments, evaluations, IEP developments and renewals in accordance with federal, state and district guidelines and regulations

·        Coordinates the administrative and clerical work of the Central Office with Special Education and testing at the local schools

·        Works with contacts with similar knowledge of/expertise in special educations laws and procedure, with the goal of influencing, motivating and providing guidance to teachers and students, individually or in groups

·        Assists teachers in the development of Behavior Intervention Plans and Functional Behavior Assessments

·        Assists teachers with providing effective student intervention based on IEP team recommendations

·        Assists teachers in parent outreach, progress reporting and meeting scheduling

·        Provides staff development on updated special education service strategies and procedures

·        Provides staff development on current testing procedures

·        Provides assessment reports to supervisors

·        Performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The Special Education/Testing Coordinator’s position requires A Certification in Administration and mastery of the concepts, principles, practices and technical skills necessary to address special education mandates, guidelines, issues and concerns. Five (5) years experience minimum. Understand current testing procedures.

                                

SALARY: The salary for this position will be commensurate with qualifications

                   and experience.

 

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 12 months.

Home Visitor ~ {5 – Marion/Uniontown Area}

 

REQUIREMENTS:       

·      A minimum of a High School Diploma

·      Eligible for participation in the HIPPY program

·      A parent of a three-, four-, or five- year-old child or access to a “practice child” (a child with  

whom the home visitor executes the HIPPY curriculum)

·      A resident of the targeted community

·      Access to a vehicle

·      Good (functional) oral and written communication skills, including good reading skills

·      Good organization skills and the ability to be task-oriented

·      Ability to adhere to schedules and specific timetables

·      Functional technological     navigation skills

·      Demonstrated potential leadership abilities

DUTIES:

 

1.   Executing the curriculum with his or her own child or “practice” child

2.   Meeting, and role playing the curriculum, with assigned families each week

3.   Participation in the planning and orchestration of group meetings, which includes role playing the

curriculum and the provision of an enrichment activity

4.   Participation in bi-monthly in-service training and other staff development activities

5.   Keeping the HIPPY coordinator abreast of child/family progress and familial issues and concerns as  

they arise

6.   Timely completion and submission of required forms and other documentation as required by the

coordinator and/or HIPPY USA

7.   Participation in all sponsored HIPPY activities (e.g., field trips, graduations, awards ceremonies, etc.)

8.   Assisting the coordinator in maintaining an efficient record keeping system for participating families

 

SALARY: The salary for this part-time position will be a minimum of $15.00 per hour with a maximum of 19 hours per week.

REQUIREMENTS:    Teachers:  Teacher certification in the subject applying for

                            Tutors:  Minimum one (1) year of successful college course work

                            High School Tutors: Must have at least a “B” average in the subject(s) they are

                            applying to tutor in, and must be classified as at least a Junior for the 2017-2018 school term.

 

SALARY:        $22/hr. Certified Teachers
